Affiliates

Membership funding helps support students in the SUETRI-B research group.  Over the years, we have produced excellent research that has advanced the field, and we have graduated hundreds of students who have gone on to enjoy successful careers in energy. Many have become influential leaders in the industry.

Affiliate Program

SUETRI-B is an Industrial Consortium focused on Reservoir Simulation research. Our industry partners include domestic and international oil companies, as well as service companies and software providers. Membership in the SUETRI-B Reservoir Simulation consortium is open to everyone. The membership fee is $60,000 per year, renewed annually, although we are interested in multiple-year, long-term interactions. The membership fee is used primarily to support graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and computer facilities.

Affiliate Program members may provide additional funding. All research results arising from the use of the additional funding will be shared with all program members and the general public.  The director of the Affiliate Program will determine how the additional funding will be used in the program’s research.

  • Invitations to meetings/workshops/symposia
  • Opportunities to engage with Program faculty and students
  • Opportunities to recruit students
  • Invitations to send Visiting Scholar(s) to the Program (research policy)

Funding

  • Faculty control and management of Program funds. While member companies may offer suggestions, faculty must be free to select research and teaching topics, methodology, and participants. Program income is pooled and may not be directed by an individual company to an individual faculty member or members. If an Affiliates Program chooses to use membership fees to support research in the lab of a specific researcher, there can be no associated statement of work or "deliverables" and the results are shared with all members and publicly. If a specific research project is of interest to the faculty member and the company, the work should be done under a sponsored research agreement with the company.
  • Additional Program funding. Program members may provide additional funding above the program fee to support program work. As in the case of membership fees, there can be no statement of work, deliverables, or other commitments. The program website should state that as with all program research, research results funded in this way are shared with all program members and the public. 

Open-Source Software

SUETRI-B does not currently produce Open-Source Software.
